Improving Public Awareness and Creativity Through Integrated Waste Management Education.

Gita founded the PARAGITA Foundation in 2015 in the Garut regency in Java. The PARAGITA Foundation engages with environmental improvement, health, and community microeconomics, with a focus on waste management. The movement started through roadshows from village to village. In Garut, Gita has served 110 out of 424 villages, while in Tulang Bawang Barat (Tubaba), Lampung, she has visited all 103 villages at the request of the Regent.

Gita is confident that the consistent education, mentoring, and training that she does during the waste management roadshows will be able to change people’s mindsets toward harnessing waste as a source of raw materials.

Through the programs she has facilitated, she has also been invited to become the mentor for two of Indonesia’s largest companies related to waste management.

Gita is dedicating her life to this issue because she saw that, until recently, there has not been an effort to nurture waste management programs in her regency. Gita has seen that a real difference can be driven by the involvement and concern of a regional leader, which can have a major influence on waste management. An enthusiastic and widespread response from the community has also accelerated a change in the approach toward waste management.
