Janet Valenzuela (She/Her/Hers) is an eco-mujerista from Huntington Park (Southeast Los Angeles) whose work is centered on bridging food sovereignty and environmental justice issues in Los Angeles (occupied Tongva territory) using alter-Native models to environmentally disadvantaged communities.
She plans to pursue a legal career in food law, particularly incorporating the intersections of grassroots activism and environmental justice. She is dedicated to challenging ongoing structures of colonialism that work towards rationalizing the use of destructive elements in her community and those alike.
