Affiliations & Roles
Co-founder, Climate Health Now
Amanda Millstein, MD, is a pediatrician in California, providing care to over 2,000 patients. Her panel includes a large percentage of medically complicated patients, as well as patients from a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds. Dr. Millstein earned her BA and MD from Stanford University and completed her residency at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Millstein is the Co-founder of Climate Health Now, a coalition of doctors and medical professionals mobilizing trusted health voices to advocate for a rapid, just transition off fossil fuels. She is also a board member of the American Association of Pediatrics California Chapter One and a co-chair and co-founder of its Task Force on Climate Change and Health.
Dr. Millstein's goal is to ensure that doctors, nurses, public health professionals, and health students are prepared to lend their voices to call specific attention to climate change as a health emergency in local and state-level discussions of climate change. Looking forward, she seeks to activate members of Climate Health Now to speak out specifically about the public health threats of oil and gas drilling in Contra Costa County. Her goals also include launching a national fossil fuel divestment and creating a robust "hub" structure within Climate Health Now to tackle diverse regional issues.
