Through WEA's signature accelerator model, we partner with local NGOs to invest in community-centered programs that equip grassroots and indigenous women leaders with the skills, tools, and resources to excel as conservationists and land stewards.
In East Africa, Indonesia, and Brazil, WEA's Women & Forests Accelerators empower local leaders to establish tree nurseries, plant new seedlings and monitor forests, educate communities on the forests' role in climate resilience and food production, launch forest-friendly microenterprises that create alternatives to logging and animal trapping, and more.
WEA's Women & Forest Program participants have gone on to:
- Implement reforestation, conservation, and sustainable forest management projects
- Establish forest-friendly micro-enterprises
- Generate income without depleting forests and ecosystems
- Increase community involvement in forest protection through education and outreach.
