At Women's Earth Alliance (WEA), Tarita coordinates Accelerator programs in Indonesia, Kenya and the U.S., including communication with participants, impact metrics, research, and alliance-building among WEA’s network.
Tarita is from Kolkata, West Bengal and came to the U.S. in 2014 to gain her Master’s Degree in Urban Strategy and Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability from Drexel University. In Philadelphia, Tarita performed research at the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation and also coordinated the Art and Environment Capacity-Building Initiative through Mural Arts Philadelphia. She is passionate about sustainable communities, environmental justice and food sustainability. Tarita’s thesis focused on local climate adaptation tactics and non-western discourses on climate change, with a case study on fisherfolk communities in her home city of Kolkata, India.
Before living and working in the U.S. Tarita was a DAAD-RISE Fellow in Hamburg, Germany at HafenCity Universität, where she contributed research in land use policy, Strategic Environmental Assessments and climate change adaptation strategies for Germany, Ireland, Netherlands, and UK. Tarita’s favorite travel journey was a 6 week sail in the South Pacific Ocean, studying the ecosystems and cultures of Polynesian islands.
