World WEAver Salon Series: Gathering in (virtual) community
Tue, May 26, 2020
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM PDT
How do we get rid of dirty coal for good and what do we do when we win? Join us for storytelling and conversation with Women's Earth Alliance and Sierra Club's Grassroots Accelerator Alumni, DeeDee Belmares who has some compelling answers to these questions.
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, DeeDee Belmares has a long track record of environmental activism in her hometown, including passing a climate action plan that put the city on course to be carbon neutral by 2050. As she actively works to push CPS Energy – San Antonio’s city-owned utility – to abandon its final dirty Spruce Coal plant and adopt more clean energy sources, she is using her knowledge and experience to draft a Just Transition Framework for communities to move away from dirty energy and towards renewables.
House Parties and Virtual Gatherings
WEA was built from the ground up by people gathering in their homes and communities to support WEA's work. Because each time we gather, the world changes
Galas and Celebrations
WEA’s Galas gather a dynamic community of thought leaders, luminaries, and colleagues for an night filled with inspiration, live music, special guests, and stories of hope from WEA’s partners and grassroots women leaders from around the world.
