Session 3: Urban Farming for Abundance with Jamila Norman

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2023

Ripple Week is WEA’s annual series of free, virtual events designed to inspire, mobilize, and amplify critical grassroots environmental solutions. This year’s theme is Abundance: We are What we Needwhich celebrates the ways that our communities and the earth exist in reciprocity and in deep relationship with one another.

Watch the recording below to hear Jamila Norman, a.k.a Farmer J, share about the joy and benefits of urban farming and about her work supporting communities of color to eat, move, and be well. Jamila is a first-generation daughter to Caribbean parents, an urban farmer at Patchwork City Farms, a food activist, mother, and host of Homegrown, an HBO Max and Magnolia Network program in which she helps families transform their outdoor spaces into beautiful and functional backyard farms.
