WATCH NOW: WEA talks Food Sovereignty at Global Women’s Assembly for Climate Justice

WEA was honored to speak at the Global Women’s Assembly for Climate Justice: Solutions from the Frontlines and the Protection and Defense of Human Rights and Nature—a free, six-day, gender-diverse virtual public forum in parallel to this year's UN General Assembly.

This event, hosted by our colleagues at Women's Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN), gathered 90 presenters from 40 countries to speak out against environmental and social injustice, drawing attention to root causes of multiple interlocking crises, and presenting visions, policies, and strategies for a healthy and just world.⁠⁠

WEA Co-Director Kahea Pacheco joined a panel of powerful leaders from around the world to discuss the importance of food sovereignty as a climate solution. Panelists included:

• Ernestine Leikeki | Founding Member, Board Chair, and Women Empowerment Officer, Cameroon Gender and Environment Watch (CAMGEW), Cameroon
