THURSDAY, APRIL 24TH
1:00 PM PT / 4:00 PM ET
Join Women’s Earth Alliance and Black Girl Environmentalist as we celebrate Earth Day with a powerful conversation on building lasting equity for Black leadership in the environmental movement.
Black women and youth are driving bold climate solutions, yet they continue to face systemic barriers that make it harder to step into—and stay in—leadership roles. This event will explore how we can break down these barriers and ensure that Black leaders not only enter the movement—but shape its future.
WHAT: Black Leadership, Equity, and the Future of the Environmental Movement
WHEN: Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 1:00 PM PT / 4:00 PM ET
WHERE: Virtual event - after registering you will receive a confirmation email with information on how to join.
Join Wawa Gatheru (Founder & Executive Director, Black Girl Environmentalist), Tashanda Giles-Jones (WEA Leader and Co-designer of Black Girls Green Futures, & Environmental Education Program Lead at Environmental Charter Schools), and Jada Alexander (Black Girls Green Futures Mentor, Black Girl Environmentalist Fellowship Partner, & Founder of Daybreak Beach Club), for an engaging discussion moderated by WEA’s Kiya Leake. They’ll share how they are shifting narratives, creating opportunities, and building spaces to support and uplift Black youth in the environmental movement.
When Black leadership is fully supported and resourced, the entire movement becomes stronger—more just, more representative, and more effective in creating lasting solutions for our communities and the Earth.
