Emily Nawire

Emily is a community environmental advocate. She is the treasurer of Bunyala Community Forest Association (BCFA), a group that works towards conserving the Kakamega forest. She has spearheaded the establishment of tree nurseries at both the household and community level. She trains grassroots women on climate-friendly smart farming and tree planting. Her group’s mission is to protect the Kakamega Bunyala Forest from deforestation but the group members also practice bee-keeping and agroforestry, mostly on individual farms.
