Women’s Earth Alliance (WEA) and Las Cañadas invite teams of two to three women to apply to the Mexico Grassroot Accelerator: Women and Land 2026. This two-year program convenes a group of like-minded women land stewards from across Mexico for training, design work, leadership development, mentorship, funding, and connection.

The Accelerator’s blended learning format combines online sessions, asynchronous design work supported by expert mentors, and an in-person training at Las Cañadas in the incredible cloud forest of Huatusco, Veracruz. Leaders will experience one of Mexico’s prime examples of what regenerative agriculture, agroforestry and cooperative community governance can grow into. The program also offers one customized training in a specific intervention chosen by your collective. This can take place either at Las Cañadas or on site on your land.

This Program Is For You If...

  • You identify as a woman and are over 18 years old
  • You are part of a collective land project in Mexico and are committed to agroecological, regenerative, and community-based approaches
  • Your collective has been operating for at least two years (legal registration is not required)
  • You have stable internet access and a computer, as well as basic knowledge of tools such as Excel or Google Sheets
  • You and one or two members of your collective can actively participate and commit to sharing what they learn with their community
  • You are able to travel to Veracruz from January 31 - February 7, 2027 (all expenses paid)

From Learning to Action

Mexico Map

Beyond theoretical training, the Accelerator is designed so that women leading within collectives can bring knowledge into action within their own territories.

Each team will co-design and implement a practical intervention in their community, with technical and financial support from WEA and Las Cañadas. They will learn new skills within our program and commit to teaching those skills within their collectives.

To guide this process, we have identified 7 intervention systems that encompass different dimensions of agroecology. Each team will select the systems that best respond to their context, needs, and aspirations:

  • Regenerative agriculture system
  • Soil health system
  • Agroecological plant production system
  • Agroecological animal production system
  • Water management system
  • Seed and plant conservation system
  • Cooperative culture system

Through the Accelerator, you'll gain:

Specialized training in agroecology, ecotechnologies, and project and holistic leadership development

Participation in an in-person cohort-wide gathering

One customized training on a desired eco-intervention (either on the site of your project or in Veracruz).

Seed funding upon successful completion of the first phase of the program (subject to meeting requirements; up to $3,500 USD per collective)

Ongoing technical support and mentorship throughout the program

Opportunities for peer exchange and network building

Access to our global community of women leaders
