“Historically I have always been amazed by women that have led the environmental movement. I would say that women and the environment share and face similar challenges in our society in the way they are perceived, underestimated, and taken for granted.” – Daniela on Women and the Environment

Why did you want to intern with WEA?

When I moved to San Francisco, I was looking for an environmental non-profit to volunteer for that had a global reach, and WEA was it. Learning about WEA’s work, and seeing that it has reached places such as Latin America, it created an instant connection, a connection back home. Knowing that I can have an impact back home all the way from the Bay Area is very rewarding.

Tell us about a woman who inspires you.

From women in my family, to friends, and women that I have worked with, my career and lifestyle have been inspired by these women. Women deal with some many things in their life that I’m just blown away by seeing them live their lives while balancing all aspects of it. But if I had to choose someone to introduce to you, someone that is close to my life and inspires me, it would be my sister. She not only is the most entertaining women I know (she will make you smile in a sec), but she is a smart, scrappy woman, dedicated and loyal.

Why women and why the environment?

That is what I’m learning with WEA! Historically I have always been amazed by women that have led the environmental movement. I would say that women and the environment share and face similar challenges in our society in the way they are perceived, underestimated, and taken for granted.

What does your life outside WEA look like?

Traveling and school! Ok, and food. There are two things that I’m working on full-time right now: my masters and discovering all the amazing food and coffee places in the city! So far so good!

What’s your favorite thing to do in the Bay Area?

Food, food, food! I can’t get enough! Besides that, I love hiking the city with my dog. Also, finding and going to events related to tech, food, and marketing. I also love how close the Bay Area is to some of the most beautiful places in California: Big Sur, Yosemite, Lake Tahoe, etc. There are so many places to explore around here!
