WEA partners with Jane Goodall to protect forests and our future
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been selected as a forest protection partner by Trees for Jane! Founded by Dr. Jane Goodall and Jeff Horowitz, Trees for Jane is a new campaign launching TODAY to shine a light on the work being done to protect and restore our world’s forests.
Protecting our forests means protecting our future. Community livelihoods and Indigenous lifeways are at risk, countless species of animals are threatened with extinction, and the rapid decline of forests worldwide is a major contributor to global warming. WEA is honored to partner with Trees for Jane, and grateful for the support this campaign and momentum will mean for our Women and Forest initiatives in Kenya, Indonesia and beyond.
Here’s what our Women and Forests initiative in Kenya has been up to this year:
How you can support WEA x Trees for Jane
Amplify the Trees for Jane campaign:
Re-share WEA’s posts on Facebook and Instagram about the Trees for Jane launch and get your community excited! Include a brief message that shows your support: “I’m supporting #TreesForJane and @womensearthalliance for our planet and future. Let’s protect, restore and plant trees together. Visit treesforjane.org to take action now.”
Plant a tree for Jane:
Starting tomorrow (Wednesday, September 22nd), join a global movement online to plant a tree for Jane. Simply get a sapling (here are our friendly tree-growing guidelines), film a short 10-15 second video of you planting your tree, and post it to social media with the message: “I’m planting a tree for Jane…now it’s your turn!” Here’s a sample. Be sure to tag @womensearthalliance and @TreesforJane so we can re-share!
