Meet the Interns: Hi, Olivia!

Every summer, we get a chance to work with an incredible team of intelligent, inspirational interns, and while they may not be with us for very long, their impact on the WEA team will always be felt. We are so fortunate to have had Olivia join us for part of her summer as part of our Programs + Operations Internship. We love you, Olivia!

Name: Olivia Robertson-Moe
Hometown: Berkeley, CA
If she had a superpower, it would be: Flying

Why did you want to intern with WEA? I wanted to work with WEA because the organization merges two of my main interests — environmental sustainability and women’s rights. I wanted to experience working with a small non-profit, so WEA seemed like the perfect fit.

Tell us about a woman who inspires you. My mother, a talented artist who combines her creative abilities with a passion for social justice to create inspiring work. Her powerful political activism encourages me everyday to dedicate myself to the things that I am passionate about. She effortlessly balances raising three kids, working, and living an exciting, healthy life!

Why women and why the environment? I think women and the environment are similar in the way that they play key roles in our world but are not respected or valued as they should be. Women are powerful change makers, and when empowered can generate creative solutions to environmental issues we are facing.

What does your life outside WEA look like? Most of my life outside of WEA is spent with my family and friends and traveling whenever I get the chance. When I am not in California, I am studying international affairs at George Washington University, attempting to survive East Coast winters.

What’s your favorite thing to do in the Bay Area? My favorite things to do in the bay include eating, hiking with my dogs, taking taco tours of San Francisco (yes, that’s a thing!), cooking with my family, strolling farmer’s markets with friends, and eating some more.

What are you currently reading / watching / listening to? Listening to my friends’ Spotify playlists because I am too lazy to make my own. Reading The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz and watching Parks and Rec because it’s even better the 5th time!
