Women on the Frontlines: Climate Change, Gender-Based Violence, and Reproductive Rights
Women bear the brunt of climate change, particularly those from marginalized communities, where the intersections of gender-based violence (GBV), sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and climate crises are most evident. As climate-related disasters increase, women face disproportionate risks, including disrupted access to essential healthcare, heightened vulnerability to violence, and threats to their well-being and autonomy. Women’s Earth Alliance and EngenderHealth emphasize that addressing these intersecting crises requires inclusive, community-centered solutions that elevate women’s leadership and ensure that SRHR remains central to climate resilience efforts.
